Our Story

Fazilah Shariff

Child and Family Therapist |
Clinical Director

The loss of my father was a defining moment in mine and my family’s life, filled with grief and overwhelming change. In hindsight, I deeply wished my family had sought support during that time. Losing a parent is a life-altering experience, and having someone to offer guidance, compassion, and hope would have made all the difference.

This personal experience inspired me to create YYC Family Therapy—a place where youth, young adults, parents, and families can find support during life’s most difficult moments. I wanted to offer a space where families never have to face these hurdles alone.

Being a therapist goes beyond credentials and techniques. It’s about personal growth, introspection, and showing up authentically for every family I support. I approach each session with curiosity and respect, creating a space where families feel seen, heard, and valued.

At YYC Family Therapy, my goal is to guide you through life's complexities and support you in finding healing during challenging moments.

At YYC Family Therapy, we understand that every family is different—and so is every solution. Our work is grounded in compassion, cultural awareness, and a deep respect for the lived experiences of the families we support. We don’t offer quick fixes or generic advice. Instead, we take time to understand your story, collaborate with you on what matters most, and support sustainable, meaningful change.

Looking Deeper for Lasting Change

We focus on the bigger picture—your relationships, family dynamics, and life context—to help you move forward in ways that truly stick.

LGBTQ2S+ Affirming

We provide an inclusive, safe space for all identities, and celebrate each person’s right to be fully themselves.

Neurodiversity Affirming

We provide a welcoming and understanding space for neurodiverse individuals and families. Whether it’s ADHD or other neurodiverse traits, we honor different ways of thinking and being, and support families in navigating challenges with respect and understanding.
